Body Art

State laws and regulations around tattooing, piercing and other body art are designed to protect public health and safety. Find applications, inspection guidelines and other resources to help body art practitioners comply with the law and be successful.


CalARP Program

The California Accidental Release Prevention (CalARP) Program works to prevent and respond to accidental releases of chemicals. CalARP engineers review safety plans, audit facilities, investigate accidents and more.


Cannabis

The cannabis program ensures businesses are compliant with state and local laws. This program issues permits to cannabis businesses and delivery operations in the unincorporated county.


Food

The retail food program covers any business or organization that sells or gives food or drinks to the public, including restaurants, school cafeterias, charitable food programs, and farmers' markets. The program helps businesses and organizations comply with federal, state and local regulations to ensure kitchen and customer safety. Industrial Safety Ordinance

The Industrial Safety Ordinance (ISO) is a set of regulations that expands upon CalARP to prevent and investigate accidental chemical releases. ISO only covers facilities that meet specific criteria, and it enforces an additional level of safety and risk management requirements for these facilities.


Land Use

The land use program makes sure wells and septic systems are safe and compliant. The program helps contractors and homeowners navigate the permit process and ensure that construction will not damage surrounding land or contaminate the County's groundwater resources


Medical Waste

The medical waste program helps businesses or organizations that generate medical waste comply with laws and regulations. The program issues permits, conducts inspections and offers training and consultation. They also respond to public complaints related to medical waste and approve safe drug take-back programs.


Plan Review

Some construction projects, such as those involving food and recreational health facilities, require approval from Environmental Health before they can begin. The Plan Review team ensures that all construction or remodeling of these facilities meets health, safety and sanitation requirements. Recreational Health
