New patients can expect world-class primary care and specialty care from Contra Costa Health! Our Health Plan sends new members a welcome packet and gives them the opportunity to choose a primary care provider either from our county health centers or community-based healthcare providers, such as Lifelong and La Clinica, that we partner with.

Having a primary care doctor or primary care provider (PCP) is a key part of maintaining good health. PCPs take care of your general health needs and advise you on many health topics and issues, as well as make referrals to medical specialists when needed.

For immediate care when you're not feeling well, you may visit Contra Costa Regional Medical Center or one of our health centers and receive care even if you haven't met with a PCP.

Every resident of Contra Costa deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare. We primarily serve people with Medi-Cal, who typically are not charged any out-of-pocket costs for receiving care from us. There are exceptions and people with other types of insurance, such as Kaiser, should check with their carriers about costs.
