Dedicated to serving our community and promoting health and well-being for all, the Contra Costa Health Ambassadors Program bridges the gap between individuals and the resources they need to thrive. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of underserved populations in Contra Costa County. Through our initiatives, we aim to foster accessibility, address disparities, and make a positive impact on our community.

What Does the Ambassador Program Do?

  • We connect individuals with vital resources, education, and support to enhance their overall health outcomes. Through community outreach and collaboration, we empower individuals to lead healthier lives.
  • Our commitment to equity drives us to bring vaccines directly to the community, ensuring that everyone has equitable access to essential immunization services.

History of the Ambassador Program

The program was launched in March 2021 in response to an urgent call-to-action from Contra Costa Health community partners urging the importance of a "boots-on-the-ground" approach to preventing the spread of COVID-19 infections and misinformation. Central to the success of the Ambassadors' efforts was a focus on radical accessibility - meeting the community where they are to strengthen outreach efforts, increase trust, and increase equitable access to testing and vaccination through trusted messengers. The program has since evolved and expanded to include three specialized Ambassador teams: Community Health Ambassadors (CHAs), Workforce Health Ambassadors (WHAs), and Specialty Health Ambassadors (SHAs).
