Whole Foods operates a refrigeration system that was constructed between late 2012 and early 2013. The refrigeration system is used to store fresh produce and frozen grocery items in a warehouse for distribution. The regulated substance anhydrous ammonia is used as a refrigerant in the system. The ammonia in the system is stored as a liquid under pressure or a gas.
