Newborn Layette Project
One of the signature programs for the Contra Cost Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) Auxiliary is the Layette Program. This program has been in operation over 35 years. The layettes provide a new parent with basic essentials needed for their infant(s). Layettes contain: a hand-crafted blanket/quilt, knitted baby cap, receiving blanket, sleeper, onesie/outfit, socks, thermometer and a baby toy. In 2018, the CCRMC Auxiliary partnered with REadingADvantage, Inc. and now newborn books and early reading learning tips are being provided in each layette.
A group of dedicated volunteers meet weekly to assemble and deliver the layettes to our Perinatal unit. More than 200 layettes are distributed on a monthly basis. Groups (no more than six at a time) may join us in assembling layettes by appointment.
Local community organizations and individuals volunteer their time and talents to craft handmade items (See patterns). If you or your organization would like to donate to this outstanding program please view our Wish List.
