Placement Openings
2 Masters level trainees (MSW/MFT) for 1st and 2nd year students.
- Minimum 20-24 hours per week, 2-3 days/week.
- Placement begins Wednesday, September 4, 2024 and ends by Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
- Required attendance: 2 hours of group supervision (Fridays 9 am-11am) and 1 hour per week individual supervision and 1 hour Staff meeting (Mondays, 11am)
- Required training: 3rd Wednesday of each month 9 am-12 pm, for countywide training.
- Required participation in a multi-disciplinary Care Team.
- Trainees will be taught and required to co-facilitate a therapy group.
- Bilingual individuals strongly encouraged to apply.
Program Description
East Contra Costa County Adult Mental Health serves a culturally diverse community of people struggling with severe and persistent mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders. Services provided: psychiatric medication support, psychiatric nursing care, individual therapy, family and group therapy, along with community-based case management services.
We provide a collaborative Care Team treatment model that offers patients mental health services using a multi-disciplinary team approach. Trainees will work closely within their Care Team that includes psychiatrists, nurses, therapists and peer support staff.
Trainees will learn crisis intervention, assessment and treatment planning skills, and will be exposed to differential diagnoses and various treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for psychosis (CBTp), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Social Skills Training (CBSST).
