Stroke System
Stroke System of Care
Contra Costa Health's stroke system of care is designed to identify patients who may have had a stroke and get them to a hospital that can treat them, as quickly as possible. This is a team effort made possible by a partnership of primary stroke centers and emergency providers. Contra Costa Health's stroke system of care is approved by the Joint Commission.
When a patient is suspected of having had a stroke, our trained providers take them to the nearest primary stroke center. Contra Costa also has a comprehensive stroke center for those who need more advanced or specialized care.
