Contra Costa Health repeatedly leads the nation with innovative, cutting-edge health programs that allow us to deliver both world-class health care and preventative programs for our county. I take great pride in working alongside all of you, stretching and adjusting our organization to meet the changing needs of the people we serve.
Decades ago, when our department settled on a new logo and brand to represent it, its leaders faced similar circumstances. They felt change all around them, and the organization's need for change within.
But the time has come again to reinvent ourselves and show the world a new, modern look to match how CCH has grown – integrated, inclusive, dynamic and focused on optimal health for all county residents, with special attention to the most vulnerable.
The new logo and colors signal where we are headed. To me it looks like a flower, with petals representing the ways we touch lives in our county – our services, or our many dedicated contributors – shoulder to shoulder, circling a solid center representing the people in our care.
You'll start to see this logo more in coming months. Our communications team is working on a rollout plan to gradually introduce our staff, partners and the public to our new look, which has been months in the making.
We don't take retiring a logo lightly. Our communications and leadership teams undertook a thorough process that included interviews with key stakeholders both within and outside CCH, numerous creative drafts, and plenty of consideration about what CCH represents, or should represent, to county residents.
I believe this process was a fitting way to honor the history of Contra Costa Health, and the result is a brilliant way to celebrate how far we have come. I hope you agree.

Planning for a Future with COVID-19
Over the past three years, Contra Costa Health (CCH) has ensured that all county residents have had access to COVID-19 testing, vaccines and treatment. With state and federal public health emergencies coming to an end, state testing sites and county-run COVID vaccination sites are closing this month.
March 4 was the last day of operation for the two remaining test-to-treat sites in Pleasant Hill and Antioch. The three county-run vaccination sites in Antioch, Concord and Richmond will close on March 31.
While official health emergencies are going away, we recognize COVID is not. CCH is planning the next stage of its response and will still be addressing COVID as part of its standard, nonemergency services.
The department will focus its COVID response on traditional safety-net populations – Medi-Cal patients, Contra Costa Health plan members and people without insurance. Residents with other insurance will connect with their own providers for COVID services.
Health Centers and immunization-only clinics will become the primary sources of COVID vaccine within CCH, and the COVID call center will transition to the CCHP advice nurse line.
CCH will maintain a robust outreach and education effort through its ambassador program, working in communities disproportionately affected by COVID and other health concerns.

Our immunization-only clinics, run by our Public Health Division, have added evening hours at most of their sites to improve access, especially for working people.
These clinics primarily serve the uninsured, people on Medi-Cal and Contra Costa Health Plan members. The clinics offer all routine vaccines, including school-required shots, as well as COVID (including boosters) and Mpox vaccines. To make an appointment, go to vax.cchealth.org or call 925-608-5350.

Contra Costa Health is taking unique steps to provide experience and skills to more people looking for jobs in our communities.
Working in partnership with the Workforce Development Board, CCH is launching the Workforce Health Ambassador (WHA) Program. The yearlong initiative will be split into two 6-month programs with a cohort of 20 people each.
The goal is to provide participants with immediate income while exposing them to careers in healthcare and helping them develop marketable and transferable work skills.
Priority will be given to Contra Costa County residents between the ages of 18-30 who meet one of these eligibility requirements:
- Currently unemployed
- Difficulty finding or maintaining employment
- Low-income
- Justice-involved
- Youth transitioning from foster care system
- Engaged with mental health or substance use treatment

WHA is also looking for hosts for shadowship to provide ambassadors with firsthand exposure to day-to-day operations of a variety of career options within CCH. If you're interested in being a shadowship host, fill out this form.

In honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander month, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is hosting a cultural celebration on May 9.
The event will feature speakers, performers and a video showcasing the rich, diverse cultures and contributions of AANHPI communities – including dance, music, food and more.
If you'd like to be featured in the video, you can submit a video or request CCTV to film for you.
Here are the details:
- All videos should be less than 4 minutes and 30 seconds long.
- Record videos in landscape/horizontal orientation.
- If your video is already on a YouTube page you own, send the link with permission to use it to ilena.ferrer@contracostatv.org.
- If it's on a YouTube channel you do not own, send proof of permission from the owner that CCTV may use the video.

If you'd like CCTV to film your submission, email ilena.ferrer@contracostatv.org for scheduling. The deadline to submit videos that require editing or schedule CCTV to film is April 5. Videos that don't require editing must be submitted by May 1.
The AANHPI Cultural Event will be held in the Board Chambers during the Board of Supervisors meeting and streamed live on Zoom and CCTV.
