Director's Message
Special Edition: Nurses Week
"Sometimes tough times make us forget why we have chosen nursing as a career in the first place. But then, there are people who always zap us back to reality and inspire us to stick to the fight." — Florence Nightingale
This week (May 6-12) is National Nurses Week and we want to use the opportunity to celebrate and thank our nursing staff. Words can't fully express how grateful we are to all the amazing nurses across our system, who are courageously on the frontlines delivering quality care and compassion to the community.
The past two years have been incredibly challenging. We would not have been able to get through this difficult time without our nurses, who are the backbone of our healthcare delivery system. Nurses are there when newborns take their first breath and when someone takes their last breath. And they are there during the moments in-between when someone needs help.
We stand in awe of our nurses, who so passionately care for historically marginalized communities, work to eliminate healthcare disparities and provide high-quality care. To highlight the care our nurses provide, we are sharing stories from our nursing staff over the coming days on Contra Costa Health's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You will begin seeing these photos and videos of nurses from across CCH - starting with Alyce Nash, an amazing Public Health Nurse who has been with CCH for more than 30 years.
On behalf of our health system and the community we serve, thank you for everything you do!
Sincerely,
Anna Roth, RN, MS, MPH
