Volunteers needed to connect homeless people with vital services

What:

Contra Costa Health Services needs volunteers for a one-day event next month that connects hundreds of homeless people with services to help end their homelessness. Project Homeless Connect 7 connects people experiencing homelessness with food, medical and dental care, substance abuse programs, shelters and more. The success of the annual event largely depends on volunteers, who are needed to help set up, greet and direct people, distribute goods and foods, assist service providers and provide general assistance at the event. Contra Costa Health Services, the City of Richmond and Chevron sponsor the event.

Who:

Anyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to volunteer. Volunteer registration forms are available online at www.cchealth.org/services/homeless/ or by calling 925-313-6124. Completed forms must be received by June 10. Email forms to projecthomelessconnect@hsd.cccounty.us or fax them to 925-313-6761. Walk-in volunteers will be accepted the day of the event.

When:

Project Homeless Connect 7 is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 15. Volunteers are needed 12 to 5 p.m. June 14 and 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 15 Volunteers are asked for at least a half-day service.

Where:

Project Homeless Connect 7 will be held at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Street, Richmond, CA 95804.
