Planning Forum for Officials to Focus on Health and the Built Environment

What
"Planning Communities: What's Health Got to Do with It?", a forum about the way communities are built and how that effects the health of residents. The keynote speaker is Richard J. Jackson, MD, Professor of Health and Urban Planning at the University of California, Berkeley; author of Urban Sprawl and Public Health; and former Director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Environmental Health.

Who
The forum is for elected and appointed officials and community leaders in West Contra Costa. Pre-registration is required. It is sponsored by County Supervisor John Gioia; Contra Costa Health Services; West Contra Costa Transportation Advisory Committee; West Contra Costa Safe Communities Project; Moore, Iacofano and Goltsman, Inc.; Urban Habitat; and Policy Link. Funding for the forum comes from the California Kids' Plates Fund.
Why
Officials will hear engaging speakers, participate in dialogue, and take home health-promoting land use and transportation planning practices and policies to apply in their community.
