What
New web page on Contra Costa Health Services website (cchealth.org) to track West Nile Virus (WNV) cases in Contra Costa County.
When
The web page was launched today. It will be updated as new cases are identified.

The number of cases is also reported on the Contra Costa Health Services Health Emergency Information Line at 888-959-9911.
Why
There have been four cases of West Nile Virus involving Contra Costa residents this year. One of the residents, an 85-year old Concord woman, died as a result of the virus. The web page provides information about the condition of the residents, the location of their residences and their ages.
WNV is transmitted to people through the bite of an infected mosquito and cannot be spread from person-to-person. The website contains important information about how to protect against West Nile Virus.
