Placement Openings

  • 2 MFT trainees (2nd or 3rd year)
  • 2 MSW trainees (2nd or 3rd year)
  • 24 hours per week
  • Placement will begin September 2019 and end in June 2020
  • Required attendance: One hour of individual supervision for every five hours of client contact for practicum placement.
  • Required training from 9am-12pm on the third Wednesday of the month for countywide trainings
  • Required participation in a multi-disciplinary team

Program Description

The Health, Housing, and Homeless Division is a field-based program that serves culturally diverse, severe and persistently mentally ill (SPMI) and other consumers within Contra Costa County. Services provided include short-term case management, counseling, linkage to ongoing mental health treatment, support for consumers while in crisis residential housing and homeless shelters, assistance in finding long-term housing, and facilitating the development of independent living skills.

Trainees will learn assessment/diagnostic and crisis intervention skills, as well as short and long-term treatment planning. The trainee will meet with clients for assessment and treatment in various locations within Contra Costa County, including street outreach. The trainee will be exposed to multiple theoretical approaches and modalities. The trainee may work with doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, licensed clinicians, community support workers, and others in a coordinated and supported manner.
