Foodborne Illness


The CDC estimates each year roughly 1 in 6 Americans (~ 48 million people) get sick with a foodborne illness. The common foodborne illnesses caused by bacteria include: Campylobacter, E. coli/Shiga Toxin, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella, Shigella, Vibiro, and Yersinia. In addition, to common foodborne illnesses caused by the parasites: Cryptosporidium and Cyclospora.
