Meet the Speakers

Patrick W. Corrigan, PsyD

Nationally renowned author and researcher on the topic of Discrimination and Stigma. Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Chicago where he directs the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Dr. Corrigan is also Director of the Consortium for Stigma Research.

Susan Rogers

Director of Special Projects, National Mental Health Consumers' Self-Help Clearinghouse, Susan served as the Director of the Center to Address Discrimination and Stigma (ADS Center). She is nationally known for her expertise in working with and challenging the media to combat stigma.

Barbara Lurie

Director of the Mental Health Media Partnership. Barbara has also served as Executive Director of the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. Barbara's specialty is working with the entertainment industry to create accurate portrayals of people with mental health issues.

Linford Gayle

Consumer Affairs Coordinator for San Mateo County Mental Health Division. Previously, Linford served as Ombudsman for the City & County of San Francisco. He is recognized as a leader in advocacy for culturally competent services and promoting consumer empowerment.

Luis Garcia

Corporate Director of Latino Program Development, Pacific Clinic, Los Angeles and member of the California Mental Health Planning Council. He develops programs, trainings, conferences and educational materials related to the needs of Latino clients

Sandra Goodwin, PhD

Executive Director of California Institute for Mental Health, CA's State Mental Health Training and Education Organization.

Steve Mayberg, PhD

Director of California's Department of Mental Health since 1993. Dr. Mayberg served on the President's New Freedom Commission.
