Emergency Medical Services

Emergency Medical Services is a system of services organized to provide rapid emergency medical response to serious medical emergencies, including immediate medical care and patient transport to definitive care in an appropriate medical setting. The Contra Costa EMS system involves a variety of agencies and organizations working together to accomplish this goal. While most EMS responses are day-to-day emergencies, EMS agencies also plan and prepare for disaster medical response.

Mission Statement

To ensure that quality emergency medical services are available for all people in Contra Costa County, and that emergency medical care is provided in a coordinated, professional and timely manner.
