Contra Costa to Host Community Forums about Mental Health Services Act Funding

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Archived. This is an older press release from 2016 and may not contain the latest information. Please view our current press releases for 2017 items.

WHAT

Contra Costa Behavioral Health, a division of Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS), invites anyone interested in improving local mental health services to participate in one of three community forums this fall.

The forums will influence funding decisions for county programs, and are part of the public process for setting Contra Costa's budget for state Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding for 2017-20.

WHO:

Ideas and advice are welcome from all members of the public, particularly providers, patients and their families.

WHEN:

Thursday, Oct. 6: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Maple Hall Community Center, 13831 San Pablo Ave. in San Pablo.

Thursday, Nov. 3: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Community Center, 320 Civic Drive in Pleasant Hill.

Thursday, Dec. 1: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ambrose Community Center, 3105 Willow Pass Road in Bay Point.

WHY:

Contra Costa's current MHSA budget, which ends in June 2017, will have provided about $41.6 million to more than 80 mental health programs, prioritized through a similar community planning process.

Forum goals include identifying service gaps and setting priorities for the next 3-year MHSA budget.

The same information will be provided at all three forums, including an overview of how the MHSA works and how the funding is currently used in Contra Costa.

RSVP to attend a forum at mhsa@hsd.cccounty.us or 925-957-5150. Visit cchealth.org/mentalhealth/mhsa for more information about the MHSA in Contra Costa County.
