Volunteers needed to connect homeless people with vital services
Monday, May 16, 2011
Contra Costa Health Services needs volunteers for a one-day event next month that connects hundreds of homeless people with services to help end their homelessness. Project Homeless Connect 7 connects people experiencing homelessness with food, medical and dental care, substance abuse programs, shelters and more. The success of the annual event largely depends on volunteers, who are needed to help set up, greet and direct people, distribute goods and foods, assist service providers and provide general assistance at the event. Contra Costa Health Services, the City of Richmond and Chevron sponsor the event.
Anyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to volunteer. Volunteer registration forms are available online at www.cchealth.org/services/homeless/ or by calling 925-313-6124. Completed forms must be received by June 10. Email forms to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax them to 925-313-6761. Walk-in volunteers will be accepted the day of the event.
