Public Health Immunization Clinics Hours Reduced
June 19, 2006
Though budget cuts forced the reduction in hours at Contra Costa's drop-in Public Health Immunization Clinics, low-cost immunizations for children and adults will still be available once a week at four sites.
Starting July 1, hours will be reduced at the Immunization Clinics in Brentwood, Concord, Pittsburg, and Richmond, said Erika Jenssen of Contra Costa Public Health's Immunization Program. Bay Point Health Center will no longer offer a drop-in Immunization Clinic.
"Despite the difficult budget situation for Health Services, immunizations are still available. We are encouraging parents to make sure their children have all the required immunizations for school, and if they need vaccinations, to come to the clinics in July when they are less crowded," Jenssen said.
Contra Costa Health Plan members are encouraged to obtain immunizations from their primary care providers at health centers and private practices throughout the County. Tuberculosis testing also is no longer available at the Immunization Clinics.
New Immunization Clinic days, times, and locations will be:
