Flaring at Chevron in Richmond

Last updated: 10 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014

The flaring has currently stopped at Chevron in Richmond but there may be intermittent flaring this evening. Flaring is a controlled burn off of gas. Our Hazardous Materials staff assessed the situation and determined a shelter-in-place was not needed.

Newborn Layette Project

One of the signature programs for the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) Auxiliary is the Layette Program. This program has been in operation over 30 years. The layettes provide a new mother with basic essentials needed for their infants. Layettes contain: blanket, receiving blanket, sleeper, onesie, cap, thermometer and baby toy.

A group of dedicated volunteers meet every Monday to assemble and deliver the layettes. More than 175 layettes are distributed on a monthly basis.

Local community organizations and individuals volunteer their time and talents to craft handmade items (see patterns). If you or your organization would like to donate to this outstanding program please view our Wish List. Call for further information or arrange for delivery at 925-370-5440 or email Rhonda.Smith@hsd.cccounty.us.
