Healthy FamiliesThe Healthy Families Program (HFP) is a state program that provides low-cost medical, dental, and vision insurance for low-income and middle-income children. **IMPORTANT NOTICE**: A new law in California says that children in HFP will move to Medi-Cal. This move will take place over one year, starting no sooner than January 1, 2013. HFP is no longer accepting new applications. However, the current enrollment for AIM babies will not change. If your child was already enrolled in HFP, your child will transition to Medi-Cal in one of four phases over the course of the year. You will receive information from the State about when the move to Medi-Cal will happen for your child and what you may need to do. Currently, Contra Costa children are scheduled to transition no sooner than March 1, 2013. Please visit the State website to view Frequently Asked Questions regarding this transition. HFP subscribers can contact the HFP Call Center toll-free at 1-866-848-9166. Non-HFP individuals can contact toll-free at 1-800-880-5305. For additional information in Contra Costa County, you may call a Financial Counselor at 1-800-771-4270.
