Injury Prevention & Physical Activity Promotion Project

The Injury Prevention & Physical Activity Promotion Projects bring a new vision and approach to creating safe and healthy environments for Contra Costa children and their families. In order to achieve this goal, we implement the following strategies:

  • Health-Promoting Policy Work – We collaborate with local decision makers, advisory committees, and community members to improve the "Built Environment" to foster safe walking and biking.
  • Community Education, Engagement and Empowerment – We provide residents of all ages with opportunities to engage in a positive, sustainable, healthy and active lifestyle and the capacity to shape the future of their own neighborhoods.
  • Safe Routes to School – We provide leadership for elementary and middle schools across the County to encourage students walk or bike to school.
  • Physical Activity Promotion – Through our Bicycle Rodeos, safe physical activity education programs, and Bicycle Helmet Giveaway program, we are always promoting fun ways to that people can get every day physical activity.
