Contra Costa Youth Continuum of Services (CCYCS) is program within the Behavioral Health Homeless Program. The goal of the program is to provide a safe living environment and life skills to youth, 18-21 years, who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or are transitioning out of foster care so that they may achieve the experience necessary to become self-sufficient responsible adults.
Appian House is a six-bed transitional living program, staffed 24 hours a day. Those accepted into the program are eligible to stay 18- 24 months. Appian House provides a structured setting in which residents receive guidance with gaining the skills necessary to complete their education and/or maintain employment which will eventually lead to permanent housing. Over the course of the 18 month program, each youth participates in the creation of a personalized Individual Development Plan (IDP) with his or her case manager. Independent living skills, such as money management, employment search, nutrition, and interpersonal life skills workshops are offered and included in each youth's IDP.
