Healthy & Livable Pittsburg Collaborative
Por una ciudad sana y habitable
The Community Wellness and Prevention Program at Contra Costa Health Services compiled a data report, Health Indicators and Environmental Factors Related to Obesity for Antioch, Bay Point and Pittsburg to guide planning and implementation efforts for a Healthy & Livable Pittsburg Collaborative.
The goals of Healthy & Livable Pittsburg Collaborative are to:
- Strengthen the capacity of Pittsburg community organizations and residents to promote healthy eating and active lifestyles
- Decrease consumption of non-nutritious foods and beverages
- Increase fruit, vegetables and healthy beverages consumption
- Increase physical activity
The Project will work to achieve these goals in three sectors: schools, community and healthcare. Education and Policy, Systems and Environmental changes (PSE) will be the primary strategies used to achieve these goals.
The Community Wellness and Prevention Program is the coordinating agency for Healthy & Livable Pittsburg Collaborative and a Steering Committee has been assembled to guide the planning process that includes the following community partners: Los Medanos Community Healthcare District, Kaiser Permanente, John Muir Health, Brighter Beginnings, Center for Human Development, Healthy and Active Before 5, Healthy Hearts Institute, La Clínica de La Raza, First 5 Contra Costa, CC Health Services - PH, CC Health Services - WIC, City of Pittsburg, Pittsburg USD, Office of Supervisor Federal Glover.
Kaiser Permanente and The San Francisco Foundation are currently providing partial funding to support a planning process that will result in a Community Action Plan. Funding will be sought from several sources to implement the Plan.
