Contra Costa Health Plan Receives High Marks From Medicare Members

Contact: Teresa O’Riva, 925-957-7251 Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) was recently evaluated by the Medicare Managed Care Consumer Assessment of Health Plans Study (MMC-CAHPS), an annual survey conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS, formerly HCFA) designed to assess the experiences of beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare+Choice organizations. CCHP is proud to announce the recent findings of this evaluation. Respondents from CCHP ranked their health plan above the statewide average in:
Compared to the last surveys in 2003 and 2002, Specialists, Personal Doctors, and Courteous and Helpful Staff ratings have been significantly improving each year. A total of 25 Medicare+Choice managed care organizations in California participated in the MMC-CAHPS Survey and the Medicare Disenrollment Survey, conducted from September 2006 through February 2007. The MMC-CAHPS survey results are available to the public via the CMS web site (www.medicare.gov) or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE. Contra Costa Health Plan, a federally qualified HMO founded in 1973, was the first County-sponsored plan in the nation to serve Medicare beneficiaries.
