Health Advisory Lifted for Pittsburg and Antioch

The health advisory for Pittsburg and Antioch has been lifted. The advisory was issued for people with respiratory sensitivities this morning after a chemical release at Dow Chemical in Pittsburg. Contra Costa HazMat staff are investigating the incident. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

RMP - Martinez Water Treatment Plant

Martinez, CA

The purpose of the City of Martinez Water Treatment Plant (MWTP) is to disinfect and filter the water that is used by the general public. The main chemicals used in the treatment process are sodium hypochlorite, anhydrous ammonia, aluminum sulfate, ozone, caustic soda, polymer, activated carbon, and fluoride. Anhydrous Ammonia is used to assist in the disinfection of the water.
