General Chemical West Corporation Bay Point Works handles listed chemicals that are known to have an acute health effect to people. The Bay Point facility first opened in 1909 as a sulfuric acid plant. This site was selected for its convenient water transportation access, and the two main railroads servicing the East Bay area. Today, Bay Point Works manufactures semiconductor grade chemicals with purities extending to the parts per trillion levels. These high quality acids, etchants, cleaning formulations, and other process chemicals are used by semiconductor and wafer fabrications all over the world. As of December 2003, there were almost 90 employees onsite with round the clock shift production.
