National Registry TestingThe National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) EMT-Basic certification exam is the approved California EMT-I certification exam. Effective January 1, 2007, the exam is offered at Pearson Vue computer testing centers only. See the National Registry web site for information on locations and registration for the exam. Who must complete the NREMT exam?Any applicant seeking certification as an EMT-I. What if I have already taken the NREMT written exam?If you have completed the NREMT written exam in other states or in other areas of California within the past two years, that testing will be accepted for certification as an EMT-I in California. You will be required to provide a current National Registry card as proof of testing. How soon will I have the results of the exam?Exam results for exams taken via computer will usually be available by the next business day. Contact the National Registry if you have questions or are unable to find your results on their web site. The EMS Agency does not have access to test results. Where do I get an NREMT application?You must register for an exam and complete the application on-line at www.nremt.org. How much does it cost to take the exam?Check the National Registry web site for the current fee schedule.
