Medical Waste Body Art ProgramContra Costa Environmental Health(CCEH) is responsible for administering the State's Medical Waste Management Program for Contra Costa County. CCEH is the local enforcement and regulatory agency for Medical Waste Generators and Body Art Practitioners. This includes issuing permits and registering generators of medical waste or Body Art practitioners, responding to complaints of abandoned medical waste on public property, and implementing the Medical Waste Management Act (Part 14, C. 1-11 of the California Health and Safety Code). Services include conducting required inspections, complaint investigations, in-service training, and consultation to all generators of medical waste and Body Art practitioners. Services are available to the medical community, Body Art Practitioners, and private citizens. For additional information, contact the Medical Waste Program representative at 925-692-2500. Body Art and Body PiercingThe California Health and Safety Code (Section 119303) requires every person engaged in the business of tattooing, body piercing, or permanent cosmetics to register with the county health department in which that business is conducted.
