Developmental Disabilities Council

The Developmental Disabilities Council of Contra Costa County (DDC) is the official planning, coordinating and advisory body to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The DDC works to improve and develop needed community services while providing information about resources and taking a leadership role in planning, training, and advocacy.

In addition, the DDC has been very active in responding to the increasing incidence of autism and the importance of early detection/intervention and developing strategies to increase access to health care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

There are over 500 individuals, agencies and organizations that make up the membership of the DDC, representing the over 5,000 individuals with disabilities in Contra Costa and their families, who are of all economic, ethic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The DDC has served the citizens of the County for 40-plus years and is staffed part-time.
