AOD Advisory Board
To further the mission of the Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board and to involve the community, the Advisory Board coordinates and supports the following projects in Contra Costa County:
"A Call to Action": This project is a collaborative effort of the Advisory Board and Contra Costa Television to raise awareness about alcohol and other drugs (AOD) issues. Three programs were successfully produced and are televised on a regular basis. Subjects include Ecstasy, Methamphetamine, and Youth and Alcohol. The Advisory Board also produced other video programs regarding alcohol and other drugs issues, promotion of successful recovery programs and community-based organizations working to reverse the negative trend of substance abuse in our communities. Additionally, the Advisory Board works with Contra Costa Television to make available other topics and programs. Videos are available for loan by contacting Fatima Matal Sol at 925-335-3307.
People Who Make a Difference Awards
With support of the Board of Supervisors, the Advisory Board acknowledges volunteer, non-volunteer individuals and groups that have significantly contributed towards reducing AOD abuse in our communities.
Board members participate in various community events such as National Night Out and County-wide health fairs distributing AOD literature. The Board also convenes Educational Forums, Round Table discussions, and Learning Series intended to raise awareness about important and current topics related to alcohol and other drugs.
